IEEE stands for the "Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. IEEE, read as "Eye-triple-E", was formed in 1963, it is the world's largest association of technical professionals with more than 400,000+ members from about 160 countries. It is dedicated to promote technological advancements, innovation and excellence in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) for the benefit of humanity

As explained by IEEE, Student Branches are the backbone of the IEEE student program. It is an operating organizational unit of IEEE constitute of IEEE Student Member or Graduate Student Members at a particular college, university, technical institute. Through this the IEEE offers numerous educational, technical and professional advantages to its student members.

When you take IEEE student membership with institute affiliation as “Marwadi Education Foundation’s Group of Institutions”, you automatically become member of the IEEE Student Branch, MEFGI. Addition to this, you will also become member of IEEE Gujarat Section and IEEE Region 10.

Broadly speaking, IEEE offers following two types of membership:

  • 1.Student Membership: Those who are enrolled to a full time regular course of study in IEEE- designated fields
    2.Professional Membership: Member grade is limited to those who have satisfied IEEE-specified educational requirements and/or who have demonstrated professional competence in IEEE-designated fields of interest.

The full-year IEEE Student Membership fee is USD 27 (Jan 1 – Dec 31) The Half-year IEEE Student Membership fee is USD 13.5 (For new members only) New applications received from Mar 1 to Aug 15 will automatically be processed for half-year membership ending on Dec 31 of the same year. New applications received from Aug 16 to 28 Feb will automatically be processed at the full year dues rates. Services begin immediately.

1. Create a suitable IEEE account by selecting the link for “Create Account” located at the top of official page of IEEE
2. Add the IEEE membership to the cart and go to “Checkout page”. At the bottom left of that page, there is an option called “Printable Order Version (PDF)”. Download the pdf and submit it along with your membership fee to any of the Executive Committee member of IEEE Student Branch, MEFGI. The Student Branch will make the payment on your behalf.

Generally the membership card is mailed within 3 weeks of completing your membership form.

2. At the top of the page hover over the “greeting”, (Hello, Your Name) and Select “Member Certificate (PDF)”
3. Once the certificate opens select print from your browser window

The MEFGI Student Branch would be organize various technical talks, seminars, industrial visits, workshop and competitions that will help students to gain a better understanding of the professional environment and technical progress and enable their careers.

You can renew your membership through the IEEE Membership and Subscriptions catalogue, in your IEEE Account. The link is located at the top of any IEEE page. To renew your membership, visit: Renew Your Membership

Changes to your IEEE Membership subscription can be made during your membership renewal process. In addition, you could also cancel your IEEE Membership before the end of the membership year.

IAS stands for Industry Applications Society. It is a global society of IEEE, which provides an exposure to the industries and applications of learned technology in real life. An IAS chapter is the technical sub-unit of the IAS society at the local level providing its members with valuable opportunities to network at a local level, enabling their personal and professional growth.
