Keeping in mind that Communication Skills in English is very critical for students’ employability and professional success, Department of Communication Skills, MEFGI has decided to celebrate English Day on first Monday of every month. The first edition of English Day was held on October 03, 2016. As a part of this unique initiative, Department of Communication Skills organized various competitions like Public Speaking, Poetry Recitation, Movie Review Presentation, Story telling etc. to promote communication in English on the campus.
Public Speaking was also one of the competitions organized with a view to giving the students opportunity to share their views on different topics in English. The event was co-ordinated by Mr Jigar Abhani and Mr Arjun Dave. The competition had screening of participants in qualifying round before the final round. The qualifying round, organized from 09:00 am to 12 noon, had 30 participants.

Participants were expected to choose one topic and present their views for 5 minutes in English. All the participants presented their views zealously and 10 participants were selected in the qualifying round on the basis of their performance.
Dr Sarang Pande, Honourable Principal, Faculty of PG Studies and Research, Prof. Navjyotsinh Jadeja, Assistant Professor, Department of IT and Prof. Vipul Solanki, Assistant Professor, Department of Communication Skills rendered their services as the judges of the qualifying round. Judges addressed students and guided them for better performance in future. Sportsmen spirit of participants was also notable.
After the qualifying round the next round was organized at 2 PM. In the final round, 10 qualified participants took part. They had been given following topics after the successful completion of Qualifying round.

Participants were required to choose one topic and present their views for 5 minutes in English. All the participants presented their views enthusiastically. At last, Winner and Runners up prizes were declared by the judges. Dr Rajendrakumar Joshi, Deputy Director, Learning Development, MEFGI, Prof. Hiteshwari Jadeja, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Management and Dr Vishal Bhadani, Assistant Professor, Department of Communication Skills rendered their services as the judges of the final round. At the end judges shed lights on various aspects of Public Speaking and motivated participants.
After the completion of Final Round, prizes were distrusted to the winners. Honourable Registrar, Prof. Naresh Jadeja remained present during the prize distribution ceremony. He also addressed students and encouraged them for their active participation in such events. He congratulated Department of Communication Skills for such initiatives. Thus, event was successfully completed with the help of volunteer students and colleagues. It has remained a memorable celebration for all.
