Theme of the session:
Any education system is always intended to address each student in an institute and any institute or class is naturally heterogeneous. Therefore, it is always challenging to design a curriculum that caters all needs. Today, when many new courses are immerging to suffice the need of the time, it becomes necessary to revive and develop the art and science of curriculum designing. Unless and until, the curriculum is developed in right way, the courses can never succeed in its objectives. Moreover, a curriculum demands different approaches depending on the types of a course. An approach in designing curriculum for the engineering courses may not work for language, art and literature courses. It is believed that the success of the engineering or technical education depends on its well integration with humanities and language curriculums. In that case, designing a language curriculum for the engineering and technical students is something should be taken care of the most. As this has not been explored much, least is defined on it. When the area of designing curriculum is itself untouched at some extent, then one, of course, needs to worry while designing language learning curriculum for technical students. Keeping in mind the fact of overlooking the very essential need of pedagogy and need to explore the area where language teaching-learning integrates with engineering and technical education, SAMVAD, a Faculty Forum, organizes a dialogue to address the issues and invites you to share your valuable views on:
1) Curriculum: Definition, scope and importance
2) Curriculum: Objectives, content, methodology, implementation, and assessment
3) Curriculum for Engineering, Curriculum for English Language, and Curriculum for English Language in Engineering
4) Process to design curriculum
5) Who shall design? Who shall implement? Whom to implement on?
6) Check the competency of curriculum
7) Cautions in designing curriculum
